The Novice Ensemble

The Novice Ensemble is designed for players between the ages of 10 and 14, who have an interest in learning, playing, and performing a mostly-celtic or celtic-inspired repertoire in a group environment.

Emphasis in this group is on learning to play together, listening to others and working together to create something fun and musically interesting. Using a range of stimulating exercises and games, kids learn about different styles of music (jigs, reels, airs, etc.), different kinds of bowings, and different methods of dynamic expression.

The Novice program doesn’t replace private lessons – none of the programs do. It provides an opportunity to apply the skills learned in private lessons in a fun and dynamic ensemble playing environment.
