COVID-19 Safety

NSCE continues to work hard to adapt to the unique challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. As a performing arts group, we were particularly hit hard in the early days. But making music together and performing in person have always been the group’s raison d’etre, and our instructors excelled at creating fun and engaging learning environments, performance opportunities and facilitating youth social interaction. We are proud to have been able to continue rehearsing, and find safe locations and procedures to meet and perform in person.

COVID Safety Protocols

Going forward, we will continue safe in-person rehearsals and performances, guided by evidence-based COVID safety protocols including:

  • Masks optional as of June 2022
  • Frequent hand washing and sanitizing
  • Ample space for physical distancing
  • Venues with good ventilation
  • Ongoing attendance tracking
The NSCE takes seriously our responsibility to do our utmost to protect all our musicians and instructors. Our rehearsal spaces are large and well ventilated with lots of hand sanitizer available. All of our musical directors are fully vaccinated. We will also require that all other adults (e.g. session musicians, parent chaperones, etc.) having significant contact with youth be fully vaccinated. Our strong recommendation is for every musician to get fully vaccinated. Some of our community concerts at seniors homes and other venues will require it.

The North Shore Celtic Ensemble has a dual mandate: To inspire youth to do more and go further with music, and to use music to build and strengthen community connections. We are a non-profit society and registered charity.
